Made in Japan.
Made to last.

SPPF wasn't born in a laboratory. It was forged in a culture where the pursuit of material perfection isn't a business strategy — it's a way of life. This is the story of where it came from, who created it, and why that origin matters for your car.

The Origin

Jetstroke.
Where SPPF was born.

SPPF is the creation of Jetstroke — a Japanese automotive engineering company headquartered in Kamagaya, Chiba Prefecture, founded by Yuichi Sasaki. What began as a custom car and dress-up specialist evolved into one of Japan's most innovative surface engineering groups, developing proprietary technologies that challenge how the automotive world thinks about paint, protection, and finish.

Jetstroke's SPPF & RubberDip Division developed the spray-on paint protection film system from first principles — not by iterating on existing PPF technology, but by asking a fundamentally different question: what if protection could be applied like paint, behave like armour, and be removed without consequence?

The answer required years of formulation chemistry, spray dynamics research, and real-world validation — from Japanese car shows to the punishing conditions of motorsport. The result is a product that doesn't exist in any other manufacturer's catalogue, because no one else started from this question.

Why Japan Matters

The world's leading edge
in surface science.

Japan has led the global development of automotive surface technology for decades. The nation's chemical engineering sector has produced breakthroughs in clearcoat durability, UV-resistant resin systems, hydrophobic nano-coatings, and ceramic hardening formulations that the rest of the industry has spent years trying to replicate. This isn't incidental — it's structural. Japan invests in materials science at a national level, treating surface engineering as a discipline worthy of the same rigour applied to semiconductors, optics, and aerospace composites.

Japanese paint and clearcoat technology sets the global benchmark for OEM automotive finishes. The multi-layer paint systems used by Japan's manufacturers — with their scratch-resistant clearcoats, self-restoring polymers, and UV-stabilised pigment chemistry — are among the most advanced in production anywhere. This same ecosystem of materials science, precision chemistry, and relentless testing culture is where SPPF's formulation was developed.

SPPF didn't emerge from a detailing shop experimenting with off-the-shelf polymers. It emerged from a nation that treats surface chemistry as a frontier science — where ceramic coating technology, spray-applied film systems, and peelable protective finishes are all active areas of R&D investment backed by decades of accumulated material science expertise.

"Japan doesn't follow the surface technology curve. It draws it. SPPF is what happens when that capability is pointed directly at the problem of paint protection."

CLEARCOAT SCIENCE

Japanese OEMs pioneered scratch-resistant clearcoat systems and self-restoring polymer technology now adopted globally. SPPF's formulation draws from the same chemical engineering lineage — polymer chains designed to absorb, flex, and recover rather than crack and degrade.

CERAMIC & NANO TECHNOLOGY

Japan's ceramic coating industry created the category of professional-grade hydrophobic surface treatments now used worldwide. SPPF sits at the next frontier — combining the durability principles of ceramic chemistry with the physical protection of a sprayable film barrier.

NATIONAL R&D CULTURE

Japan's government-backed research institutions and private-sector material science labs sustain a continuous pipeline of innovation in polymer chemistry, UV stabilisation, and surface adhesion science. SPPF benefits from an R&D ecosystem that no single company could build alone.

Jet Concept

Jetstroke's custom car and design division — where vehicles are reimagined as expressions of identity. The design sensibility and surface-first thinking that drives Jet Concept directly influences SPPF's aesthetic philosophy.

Network

130+ Certified DIP SHOPs

Across Japan, the DIP SHOP network of certified applicators ensures every SPPF installation meets the same standard — regardless of location. Each shop is individually vetted, trained, and held to benchmarks set by the original engineering team.

From the Founder

Protecting the craft.
Not just the car.

Yuichi Sasaki's vision for SPPF extends beyond surface protection. As he articulated at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, SPPF is also about preserving the value and pride of the panel and paint craftsman — ensuring that the skills of body repair and precision finishing remain relevant, respected, and economically viable as the automotive industry evolves.

"SPPF is one answer to a bigger question: how do we ensure that the craftsman's art survives — and thrives — in the next generation of automotive culture?"

The Promise

What "Made in Japan"
means for your car.

When we say SPPF is made in Japan, we mean every formulation, every protocol, every quality benchmark, and every training methodology originates from the same source — Jetstroke's engineering team in Chiba Prefecture. The product that arrives at your car carries the full weight of a culture that doesn't know how to make something halfway.

That's not a marketing claim. It's a manufacturing reality — and it's the reason your paint stays protected for as long as you choose to keep it that way.
